Library Information

KBTC boast of a magnificent library; fully equiped with state of the art library equipment and books which the students, lecturers & staff have access to. All the books available are catalogued in a library management system which allows the library users to search for a book availability using the OPAC.

Members of the community who are church leaders, teachers, students, their spouses and older children may also use the library. This is done by one paying a membership fee of Kshs 500.00 per month. The users have to then fill an application form and attatch a photocopy of their national identity card or student card and 2 letters from referees.

The library operates on two shifts on weekdays and weekends on hours when classes are in session

  • Weekdays between 8:00am to 6:00pm and 7:30pm to 9:00pm
  • Weekends between 4:00pm to 6:30pm and 7:30pm to 9:00pm

And one shift during hours when classes are not in session

  • Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Library Services

1. Lending Services

This service enables library users to borrow and return information resources, mainly done at the circulation desk. Primary users have access to all library resources and are allowed to check them out except for reference books and periodicals. Faculty can check out up to 10 books for a period of one month, non-teaching staff 5 books and children 3 books for two weeks and students up to 5 books fpr the duration they will be out of campus. An overdue fine of Kshs. 5.00 is charged per book per day to all users before charges are made. Renewal of loaned materials to users can only be done twice.

2. Reference and Information Services

The librarian at the circulation desk handles a variety of inquiries ranging from general information to quick references questions. Advices and assistance to users are given on literature searches for project work, term papers, essays and research topics.

3. Current Awareness

Users are informed on current events through periodicals e.g. newspapers. New arrivals of books are also displayed on the table close to the circulation desk during library hours for users to know what resources have been added to the collection.

4. SDI - Selective Dissemination of Information

This is an individualized service to a user who has individual interest and is seeking specific information on his research work.

5. Online Public Access Catalog

This service assists users to find books that are housed in the library. It is user-friendly and allows users to search for the author, title and subject of the book.
